The Unlawful Altars

…and threw down the high places and the altars… – 2 Chronicles 31;1

These altars were built for the service of the true God, but they were built against His express command. God had said that He would have but one altar, namely, at Jerusalem. These people, to avoid inconvenience and trouble, thought they would build altars, wherever they lived, and there celebrate their worship. I can conceive that they worshipped Jehovah with all their hearts, and that He might graciously accept even such worship as that through Christ Jesus, overlooking their ignorance and casting their sin behind His back. But now as their zeal was kindled, their consciences became scrupulous, so they resolved not only to avoid the things that are positively sinful but they would have nothing to do with anything that is not positively right. So they began to cast down the altars of God because they were not built according to God’s law… There should be a casting down of everything in connection with the true worship, that is not according to the law of God and the word of God. As it was with the worship of Israel of old, so it is now with that of the Christian church. The pure becomes alloyed with the base, that which is genuine with that which is spurious, divine revelation with human tradition, and the inspired decrees of heaven with the inventions and devices of the children of men. Some fallacies are perpetuated from generation to generation, until the deep hue of antiquity tinges them over, makes them look venerable and speciously invites a reverence and regard to which they never had any legitimate claim… But, mark ye this, if the grace of God be once more restored to the church in all its fullness and the Spirit of God be poured out from on high, in all His sanctifying energy there will come such a shaking as has never been seen in our days. ~ C.H. Spurgeon

    Thanks, Brother Spurgeon!
The Christ Mass and Easter fits perfectly with what you said! They are pagan/papist/traditions of men that have been practiced for so long that they are unlawfully regarded as holy! And those who speak against such days are treated as if they are not Christians by many so called Christians!

  2. Christmas and Easter. Strange fire. It’s not Christian liberty, it’s strange fire. The Lord didn’t accept it in the past and he doesn’t accept it now. I believe it’s more serious than most think. This is what the Lord has shown me recently.

We can write and pray hoping some will see and understand. It is a stronghold for sure. I hope to do a blog on it if I can put one together. How do you all handle these days with family who celebrate?

    • You are so right, Cathy! It is strange fire and it is more serious than most Christians know, or even want to know. I ask, what does God see when He sees evergreen trees decorated and in the house? I believe He sees these groves where every evil thing is done under every green tree (Isaiah 57:5). Now, I know that we don’t sacrifice our babies at the Yuletide season* but it does remind God of that that once was done in worship of Him, of which He never even considered it to be done for Him. I truly wonder if, back when Roe v. Wade was being decided (during the Yuletide season!), the prayers of the Christians were not heard by our most holy God due to these trees set up in the churches by the pulpits where the Word of God is read and taught! God will not share His glory with another! Those decorated trees cause joy and wonder just looking at them!

*I once saw a video that stated that more abortions are performed during the Yuletide than at any other time of the year and its mostly for pagan religious reasons!

I haven’t been plagued with any dilemma over not celebrating X Mass but I do have respect for the difficulty of not celebrating it where families are impacted. Nevertheless, we must follow Jesus and keep our Father’s commands without fear of man, spouses and children. I once was told that X Mass was a way to teach her child about the birth of Christ and she didn’t know how else her young child would learn it. I felt such a wash of grief when she said this because I thought, you can read to her the scriptures that tell of Christ’s birth and explain why He came from them. 😦 Its an awful stronghold, indeed….

For the love we have for our Beloved and for the brethren let’s continue to warn as we are led of the Holy Spirit, come what may. God bless you, Cathy, in all that you do for His kingdom, by His power and for His glory, amen! \o/

      • I don’t celebrate anymore because I feel the Good Lord has shown me the truth about these unholy days in His Word.
That being said I share what I believe HE has shown me and I’m not going to debate anyone-only God can change hearts 👍🏻🙏🏻❤️
Love ya, Ladies! We must keep on keeping on!!

  3. Also I have 7 children and at one point in their lives I was a staunch supporter! When I came out of the practice of Roman Catholicism I started wondering how I could celebrate with that cult such a “holiday”? It just didn’t make sense!!!
When I told them I would no longer celebrate they were taken back naturally-I told them that I love them but I love the Lord more and must obey Him no matter what !
