The Wheel of Providence

“Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went. As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.”-Ezekiel 1:15-19

When the prophet had seen the “living creatures,” which I take it were angels, he opened his eyes again, and he saw a wonderful illustration of the divine Providence, and this exhibition was in the figure of a wheel. You must know that this is not the only place where the comparison is to be found; for among the classics, the Romans and the Greeks were accustomed to compare the wondrous works of God in Providence to a wheel. The story goes, that a certain king being taken prisoner, was bound in chains, and dragged along at the chariot wheels of his conqueror. As he went along, he kept looking at the wheel, and shedding tears-looking at the wheel again, and lifting up his eyes and smiling. The conqueror turned and said, “Wherefore art thou looking at that wheel?” He said, “I was thinking, such is the lot of man; just now I was here; now I am there; but soon I may be here again at the top of the wheel, and thou mayest be grinding the dust.”

So it is with our life…Ah! man, thou art strong, and great, and rich; thou mayest stand now as the uppermost part of it; but it is a wheel, and you may yet be brought low. And you, poor, who are depressed and downcast, who are weeping because you know not where you shall lay your heads-that wheel may revolve and you may be lifted up. Our own experience is never a stable thing; it is always changing, always turning round. ~ C.H. Spurgeon

    • Amen! I’ve been much encouraged after reading Revelation310’s posts on the Rapture, especially the last one he did. Many say that the Rapture is far sooner than we think if we use any of the four methods to calculate approximate timing. \o/

      • It seems to be a trend among Christians to be pro faux-Palistine these days. Or, it may be the person was an Amillennial/Preterist. And there are many Christians who have no interest in prophecy or the state of the State of Israel. Perhaps, too, they just don’t see anything prophetic in the latest developments.

  1. Check out this Bible Verse. ‘But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.’

    • Maranatha! \o/

BTW< I posted about Social Justice, The New Gospel by Andy Woods on my blog. The link is in the chat room here. Its so sad now. Its so much worse than it was years ago. Also, in the comment line of that post is a signing by “Christian” ministers to to support abortions as a woman’s choice. 😦

      • Yes I agree that’s nuts that they are signing that abortion is murder plain and simple. Speaking of Social Justice check out the Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel website. Social Justice is a threat to the Gospel and the Church.

      • Yeah, I believe the first video in the post gives that statement and that’s what is so sad. They’ve demonized the visible Church bring it down so that they can lift up their brand of church. “Nuts.” yep, I could not say it any better than that. Today’s youth are being brainwashed, or groomed, in all arenas of society to make way for tomorrow’s Marxism.

(its interesting that both the abortion document and the Social Justice statement have a lot of women reverends and church leaders in it…say I more?)
